Test Preparation
The Fever Package Advanced (includes Dengue, Malaria & Typhoid Tests) consists of a series of tests that help detect common fever-causing illnesses. This package includes tests to detect infection due to dengue, malaria, typhoid, urine infection and indicates other seasonal viral/bacterial infections that may be causing the fever. Tests like complete blood count (CBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C-reactive protein (CRP) provide blood counts and help identify the presence of inflammation related to your fever. Liver enzymes (SGOT, SGPT) help detect liver infection or inflammation (hepatitis). Your doctor may advise urine culture based on abnormal urine findings.
The Fever Package Advanced (includes Dengue, Malaria & Typhoid Tests) encompasses an array of tests that help investigate the potential causes of fever. It includes the dengue fever NS1 antigen test, and malarial antigen test for P.falciparum and other malarial parasites. Widal slide test and Typhidot (IgG & IgM) test that helps investigate the cause of your prolonged fever. Furthermore, this package also helps assess inflammatory markers and general health parameters through tests like Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), complete blood count (CBC), SGOT (Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase), SGPT (Serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase), and urine routine examination.
The fever package is usually advised for individuals presenting with symptoms such as fever, chills, body aches, general weakness, irritability, and other symptoms suggestive of infectious or inflammatory conditions. This package may also be useful for individuals with a recent history of travel to areas endemic for malaria, dengue, or typhoid or those with known exposure to these diseases.
The Fever Package Advanced (includes Dengue, Malaria & Typhoid Tests) encompasses additional tests to the other fever packages notably the dengue fever NS1 antigen test. This test is very helpful to detect dengue infection in the first week of fever; if done later, it is advisable to do an additional dengue IgM antibody as the NS1 protein may disappear from blood. The other tests in this package help evaluate the general physical well being of the febrile patient. This ensures comprehensive screening, enabling accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, as these fever-causing illnesses can have overlapping symptoms but require different management strategies.
No special preparation is required for getting these blood tests. For urine test, the sample should be collected into a sterile container provided by the sample collection professional. Women are advised not to give the sample during the menstrual period unless prescribed, as that can interfere with certain test results. You are required to submit all the samples that are a part of this package during the sample collection itself.
Lab test results may vary across different laboratories. Abnormal test results require an expert interpretation, therefore, never try to self-medicate at home based solely on these results, and always consult a doctor for proper understanding of the test results. Discuss your symptoms and medical history to help the doctor correlate your clinical and laboratory findings, leading to a more accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan tailored to your specific health needs.
